‘Vie
ferrate’ are routes equipped on rock with metal ropes and pegs.
Many of them partially follow
the old military routes created during the war to allow
the soldiers to reach their strategic positions on the crests
and peaks.
Today
this type of route is very common and much appreciated by
excursionists, because they can reach much more panoramic
view-points and give much more satisfaction compared to normal
walks. To achieve this type of activity there is no need to
possess particular attributes, but there is a need however to
realise that often these routes although well equipped, are very
exposed and require the use of mountaineering equipment and the
company of an expert who can guarantee a minimum of safety.
